Canola oil has many exciting uses in the food and renewable fuel sectors.

In the food sector, it may be used as a salad oil, in its most refined form, as a frying oil, and as a shortening in baking. The health benefits derived from canola oil are increasingly well known. It is one of the lowest oils in unsaturated fats, lower than even olive oil. Canola oil is one of the highest in monosaturated fats, which help lower cholesterol, and it's one of the best source of omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential in the human diet.

Consumers around the world and in the U.S. have shifted toward purchasing healthy edible oils, and canola has been one of the leading beneficiary of this trend. Consumption around the world and in the United States has experienced extraordinary growth over the past several years.

Canola oil has also been increasingly used in the fuel sector. To learn more about canola oil as a renewable fuel source, the Canola Council of Canada is an excellent source of information.
